These lions are animals, you do not understand them even if this is what you think. Many thought that they were controlling and understanding these lions and lost their lives because they were wrong.

OMG -- true story -- I live in the United States in the state of Virginia, and we have a species of marsupials called Virginia o'possum -- (everybody just calls them possums), and they are not the prettiest creatures -- they are small, and only live about 4 years in the wild and/or captivity. They do have a large mouth with full teeth, but their main line of defense is to literally hiss like a cat -- or, as everybody called it in my small rural town, "playing possum." -- they go stark still as though they were dead, and hope whatever is after them will walk on by. So, I have a little juvenile that my son named Frank, who lives in the tree in our backyard, and somehow he started coming to my bedroom window, and so now he gets our left-overs, and his fav, cap crunch cereal with crunchberries -- and white grapes; he loves grapes, but I think Frank's a girl --- anyway, this video popped up under my recommended list, so I clicked on it, not realizing Frank was on the window sill, and there was no sound -- I had the computer on mute; operator error -- then saw little Frankie -- and when the sound came on was at the exact time Kevin said: come on, Bobcat, I know you want to roar -- and then he did -- poor Frank about had a heart attack -- he jumped and got stiff as a board -- I was able to revive him (her?) with extra crunch berries -- it was hilarious, but affirmed, Mighty Bobcat, IS the King of the lions -- those other guys can roar loud enough to be heard for 5 miles -- Bobcat's roars can be heard for 5,000 miles -- I'm old; it's one of the funniest things I've ever seen --

If the lions in different enclosures couldn't see each other, they'd be less confrontational with the others.

I repeatedly come back to this whenever I'm feeling down.

How does someone get a position like this. As a child I've always wanted to work with and protect animals especially big cats. I would literally work for next to nothing as long as I'm able to eat and have a place to stay other then that. I would be so at peace,

The sound of diesel pipes aren’t even close to what a lion’s roar sound like. I get “MONSTER” vibes every time I hear one.

Sitting next to a lion when he is roaring to his family, has to be one of the greatest experiences ever.

Why have they domesticated these animals. We should not want to pet them, we should fear them for there viciousness. I swear I just dislike humans want to control everything it fears.

Do you have to shower and change clothes after being around one group of Lions and then enter another enclosure ? Do they smell the others and get aggressive ? What about the Hyenas ? Do the Lions treat you different if they smell the Hyena scent on you or vice versa ?

Seeing this reminded me of how much I miss Amy and weep for her sister Meg!!!!

At a safari, we heard two lions roaring at each other in the dead of the night... apparently they were atleast a mile away from our tent cabin. But it felt as though they were right next to it. That deafening roar is meant to scare and it SURE DOES. I was scared to even peep out of the tent. I am stupefied by how Kevin sits next to a roaring lion.

Sorry to say. I really wish there wasn't a blood feud between lions. Lions would be so much more abundant if their communication were more friendly in the wild. If only prides could communicate a positive tone with each other. The instinct that this beast created throughout time is so sad. Although I suppose the circle in Africa wouldn't be the same if things didn't die at the pace that they do.

I love watching Amy and Meg together, but I also start to cry soo hard, I can't help it, because I see Meg all alone,I have happy tears and sad tears at the same time pretty much!!! Had a Great Dane/Rottweiler mix that was so protective of his family it reminds me a little very tiny little of this. He was a badass. Dutch. Just cannot imagine hanging out with Lions and Lioness. The way you have your connection with them is stunning. Good for you.

I could listen to that all day. I love that spiritually uplifting sound. I was on foot walking back to my camp after dark in Uganda the first time I heard a wild Lion roar (and the hyena eyes in my torchlight appeared to scatter). I envy you to feel it so close, what a privilege!
