LionWhispererTV aim is to raise awareness about The Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary.
The Kevin Richardson Wildlife Sanctuary’s mission is to provide a self-sustaining African carnivore sanctuary for the purposes of wild species preservation through education, awareness and funding, especially pertaining to the rapid decline of large carnivores in Africa due to habitat loss, human-predator conflict, unscrupulous hunting, disease and their illegal trade.
On this channel, The Lion Whisperer films the majority of his footage using a GoPro camera, allowing viewers to get as close as possible to the lions, leopards and hyenas at the sanctuary.
Kevin Richardson hopes to provide viewers insight into the lives of these beautiful creatures and in turn, by watching the videos on the channel, viewers will be directly contributing to the conservation of these majestic animals.

They know their names so well! I just want to know how they are set free for walks, but how in the hell do you get them to come home with you? I can’t get my Chihuahua to listen to get her in the house as well as they listen to you. I see the meat treats but they have the routine down Pat. You are amazing with them and what I admire the most about you is your love for all of them. That’s a real man with a BIG heart! By the way I have a Pit Bull too and she listens better than my Alpha Chi ! LOL

I've always had a fascination with the big cats. The size of them is incredible. So huge yet beautiful and graceful. Their eyes are captivating. It so cool to see them in a more close up fashion in a more or less natural environment with a human walking among them almost as part of the pride.

I have never seen a wildlife worker who is as genuine as Kev. The way he talks about the animals, the way he tries to understand them, even when they’re grumpy or angry, the way he empathizes is something we should all learn to do and apply in our interactions with humans and other animals alike.

There have been two. The first died (was hit by lightning) and one special cat. This Thor was bought specifically for a movie that Kevin produced when he was a cub. As a matter of fact, all the cats in this pride were bought at the same time and for the same reason.

I have a question as I just watched "Mia and the white lion". This lion pack has allegedly been bought from a breeding farm by you as cubs, as I have read on a animal activists site, for the purpose of the film and then to live in your sanctuary. Is this true? I never heard a story about them, so I was wondering. I am a big supporter of your cause but I'd really like to know what is behind this allegation? :) thank you

I've heard him talk about it. It is true, but so what. Animals are bought for movies every day, and then what happens to them? He bought them from a breeding farm is why the activists talk about this, but the alternative for the cubs since this was a canned hunting facility was the bullet. The lions there were destined to be shot to make money for their owner or maybe on a breeding farm themselves. In my opinion, he saved them as he has raised them and given the best life possible for a captive lion. Check out what canned hunting really is.

That is just an allegation. Let's say it is true and he bought them, so what? Breeding farms in South Africa operates for a single purpose, canned lion hunting. There is no value in breeding lions since you can't put lions in your backyard so the only consumer of lions are hunters. Without Kevin, these lions would be put in cub petting industry and by the time they reach maturity...they will be shot. Now watch Mia and the White lion and tell me what's the message of that film ....surely you will understand

How did this pride come together. Because I just started watching not long ago, i don't know how the different Lions in each Pride came to be other than they were together when they were very young. Did you rescue them from one place, I would guess? Are Charlie and Thor blood brothers?

The ladies play jumping at the beginning was awesome! Looks like they're having a great time. Charlie sounds like the introverted misunderstood type 😂 Jubari and Charlie seems to be an item. She likes playing with him and being with him. What's cool is their personalities are such a match. Both are strong, silent types 😆 Thor and Ndira? Hmmmm... Does that mean Charlie is more dominant over Thor? Maybe that's why he's "grumpy" and a non-conformist, coz he's the boss and he doesn't need to prove anything? Hope to see more of these guys. 1. I'm thinking since they don't hunt as they would if fully wild is the reason you take them for their walks; that you do so to ensure they get exercise. IS that why and/or would they go for walks as part of the pride socializing if fully wild? 2. You spoke of inbreeding among the white lions; is that a unique incidence among ONLY white lions or is/was your meaning MORE SO frequently than non white lions?

In the wild, male lions are chased from the pride at about 2-3 years because they will soon be big enough to challenge the head pride male. This also keeps them from mating with their mothers and sisters or any other relation. The head guy only lasts for 2-3 years before he is kicked out by another lion. So there is little or no inbreeding. This doesn't happen in captivity. They keep the same lions around and let them breed with each other constantly. It's worse with white lions because they are in more demand and they're REALLY inbred, generation after generation..This is one of the reasons Kevin doesn't breed at his facility.

Sorry, crappy computer. They do hunt on walks, but their heart isn't in it--they aren't hungry. They only get something occasionally. The walks are mainly for exercise, but also to enrich the cats. Their enclosures are large (approx 1 hectare) but even so, it's still an enclosure and it's nice to get out and about once or twice a week. Same reason he moves the animals.
